More About Derenda

Derenda King is a Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) and a Certified Student Loan Professional (CSLP®). She is also a financial adviser with Urban Wealth Management and owner of Collegiate Financial Coach, LLC. Prior to becoming an adviser, she worked in higher education and held various positions at colleges and universities primarily in Southern California. Her passion for helping borrowers stems from her own personal, as well as professional experiences. Not only did she have her own hefty student loan balance to deal with, but she also saw first-hand how parents struggled to pay for their child’s tuition, as well as the impact of students saddled with student loan debt. These experiences fuel her passion to help borrowers navigate the student loan maze. Moreover, she truly believes that an education is the great equalizer and is on a mission to ensure that it is affordable and attainable for all.

In her spare time, Derenda enjoys watching cooking shows, trying new recipes, and watching football.
